I got a 12"+ Pbass for free. A customer called the lfs where I work and said he had a big Pbass that had outgrown his 55 gal. and he wanted to donate it to our store. My coworker who answered the phone asked us, "we don't have room for a 12" Pbass do we?".
I said, "I'll take it!". So the customer brings it in, in a little bucket and it is stressed out! Like pitch black. Then I have to keep it in a styrafoam fish box for 6 hours waiting to get off of work. Luckily I was able to use a couple of spare airlines to aerate the fish box. The other bad thing was that the lfs I work at only has cold water coming out of the hose, so when I filled the box with cold water, the Pbass starting swimming upside down! I thought for sure it wouldn't last 6 hours!
While driving home, I noticed that the Pbass had stopped splashing around in the box, which was in the passenger seat. I thought for sure it had died. However, when I got home and put it in my swimming pool/pond, it was still alive but still doing those "death twirls". However, after a couple of hours, it was swimming normally and it regained most of its colors, and it has been fine ever since.
Definately a testament to how tough cichlids can be!
