Stress Coat vs. Prime

When you consider that 16oz of Prime treats 5000g and 16oz of most of the rest of the dechlorinators out there only treat about 960 gallons of water, I think the choice is pretty easy for those of us with large tanks or multiple tanks considering that Prime doesn't cost that much more.

Prime does smell pretty bad but it has never made my tanks stink even when overdosed.
 
Ill have to look around my three local petstores never seen or hear of anyone talking about this prime. I do know that alot of people including myself use walmart start right with allanton from jungle in a liquid bottle for 5 bucks been using this for 8 yrs never lost a fish except jumpers here and there.
 
Aquasafe.

i live on a well, so there is never any worries about chlorine, chloramines ect.
i do have a few copper pipes left we are in the process of changing over. Thats all i use the aquasafe for. My girlfriends house does have chlorine in the water so i usually just leave my bottle over there. Ive tryed prime, and it was nice but for the price i can get pond aquasafe at it doesnt make sense to get prime anymore.
 
Prime will reduce ammonia and nitrate, we took a test tube of water from a new tank not cycled and tested a 3.0 ammonia and then added a few drops of prime to the test tube of new water and reduced the levels in half. Prime is better just more expensive. Did not try on nitrates will do this week.

you save money because prime you use less then you would aquasafe thats how you save the money prime would do about 5 bottles of your aquasafe maybe more...so you save money..

I use both. Prime has a negative effect on my planted tanks, and for them I use stress coat, or sodium thiosulfate.
