Stress Coat vs. Prime

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We don't have Prime in S. Africa. Is Stresscoat really that bad coz I use it and it works better than anything else I've used. Even the Aquasafe still didn't do such a good job - a few months ago a lot of my fish died of chloramine poisoning. Still, the Stresscoat seems to work. It is a bit expensive but I'm willing to pay it coz I like the fact that it contains aloe vera, which is really good for naturally destressing the fish. It also seems to boost their immune system and help them heal naturally. Maybe it's becoz of the aloe vera that it's so expensive. I bought aloe vera meds before for treating whitespot and I've never lost a fish to ich ever again. :D

I use both stress coat and stress zyme, however as you have read everyone
uses prime mainly because of cost not effevtiveness. oh well i also use pond prime i could not afford enough stress for 3500 gal pond.

I have been using stress coat, as that is what everyone tells me to use. It is a bit costly, but I don't mind. Is prime really better?

I personally use prime and dont have a problem. My cousin did point out to me that it smells like a strong hair care product or something strong. I agree that it does smell bad. He uses a basic pond/aquarium chlorine/chloramine remover which works perfectly. Ive love to hear why Prime or Amquel smells so bad?

Prime takes a big steaming pile on stress coat...

OMG I just realized how old this thread is sorry for feeding the necromongers :(

I use Stresscoat, I have never seen Prime on sale in the UK.

Providing it removes chlorine and chloramines I don't see the problem, I use filtration and water changes to handle everything else.
