since last Thursday the 12 i have been having all sorts of problems with my filter and stuff. most recenltly ive been spending long hours in front of my rays working away and trying to build and cut to fit my FX5. i just realized i haven't seen poo in my tank since last Friday/Saturday the 13/14.

could all my moving around in the room, hands in the water and filtration problems cause enough stress to make the rays constipated? they have still been eating but not as aggressively as they usually do. what should i do?

thanks

Probably your new filter is doing its job properly. If it really is constipation, you can always dose with epsom salt. Its like a fish laxative.

id say its the filter....fx5 is alot of suction... the way my returns/overflows worked on my old tank i very rarely saw poo.... no need to worry or add anything to your tank

man i wish it was the filter! unfortunately i haven't got a chance to use it yet. Ive still been contemplating about the sand and making up a solution for it. im making my own intake for it u can read about it if u want in the filtration and setup forum.

ever occur that maybe your other filters sucked it up? you did post you had a 1200gph power head.... again i see no reason to be concerned or add anything...

I would think if they were constipated you would see signs of bloating or such. I wouldn't treat either.

their not bloated but their eating has slowed down. they spend most the day hiding in the sand now.

would it be ok to move them out for a few hours to take out my old sand and put pool filter sand in. then ill turn on my FX5 and remove sponges :D

I recently moved my 3 pups from one setup to another. I put them in a
cooler for about 1-2 hours while I moved/transferred other fish and
transferred filtrations.
After I put them back they buried themselves for about an hour or so
then they came out and started exploring.
Yours are probably just stressed from all the commotion in the tank.

Maybe it wouldn't hurt to let them settle down and see if they start
coming out more and make sure they are OK. Usually they are stressed
or spooked when they stay buried that much.
