Stretched ears!

I have to agree with you in part. Lately I see kids (early high school age) with ears about half inch and/or snake bites. I think it plays into the emo trend. But I know a lot of people, myself included, who have been working on semi to extreme mods for over a decade. It can become almost more of a lifestyle than a fad.

@ Savannah -- I did not know you could stretch most of the things you have stretched...Interesting. That said, not my cup of tea. I have my ears pierced and that's about it. lol. I don't think I'd ever get them gauged, even a little bit. I do think that a little bit of gauging is attractive though.

Ok, now I gotta ask...Who hangs themselves from those freaky hooks for a thrill?
 
Well on the cartelidge you can't stretch like you would your lobes. You actually have to remove close to the size you want and stretch it immediately which stops the bleeding, otherwise you can bleed for a few days, very annoying. And I do the hook thing.

I will agree about it becoming sort of a fad with people around my age (almost 21) it is mostly in and arojnd the metal scene which im not going to deny cause i love progressive and technical death metal and deathcore but I dont dress like your typical hot topic kid. i only go there for new plugs so i can assure you that I my self am not emo/scene nor any of my friends. I'm the only one with stretched ears besides my gf. I. Simply like the look of stretched ears. I understand where you old time modders opinions are coming from though. :)

I'm not that old, nearing 30 but it seems a lot of people I know between 28-37 fall under that mod scene, more of the behind the scene mods though like implantation suspension etc. It just seems i see a lot of 15-18 year old kids with the stretched ear emo goth look hanging around. As for my camp, we all look relatively normal barring a few stretched ears and maybe some visible ink. But i know a fair amount of doctor/lawyer/stock broker clean cut people who come out for hanging bbq's and picnics

Its always freaked me out. lol. I'm a wimp though and won't get a tattoo for fear of pain. lol

I applaud you for pushing that boundary and having the strength to go through with it. I can't handle a paper cut, let alone taking an ornamental chunk out of my ear. Yikes!
