I got a 61 lb 4oz last year in the winter ocean season. What a disapointment for fight, It was like pulling up a tire that moved occasionally. She was a hog though. 20 Lbs is a small fish for that season, but it's not for the faint of heart!
thats what i was looking for, what is thier max size and I don't have the patience to grow a striper, wipers can grow almost a foot and a half in a year, that's the growth rate I want! Could I fit 2 wipers as the only fish with "maybe" a school of blue gill asa clean up crew
Have you built the pond yet? If you have not, I would recommend that you go a little deeper. As per the wipers, I'm not entirely sure of their max size, but under the assumption that their max size is 24", you could probably do 3-4, with the bluegills. I'm kinda guessing though, as I don't know what their true growth potential is.
Ya it's built, at 3 feet i'm digging in solid clay, the deepest part is about 3.5 and it's the drainage line leading to the pump for waste to flow out, and what about 1 striper??? I really don't want only a 2 ft fish
It would be in your best interest to just get a few wipers, there's a lake near my house and I've seen some wipers almost at 3'. They behave just like stripers as well so its just as good.
I really like specimen fish, it is 3.5 feet deep now and the ONLY fish id keep is the striper. I really like 4-5 ft long fish and a wiper just doesn't get big enough for me, itd be like a big lmb. I really want the striper. It would probably be a good home compared to how cramped SOME people keep things like rtcs. I'm not saying on this site. It would be pretty hard to grow a monster fish like 6 ft, I mean those grow in the entire ocean
