So when will babies be for sale?

Can you tell us again exactly what the parents are again genetically? From the pictures on the first page I don't see the HRP bloodline, nor do I see the marbling in the female, just pink. What are the babies looking like again? Are any clearly showing the marble and extended red/orange of a "Calico" on a pink background? Do any of the males show increased blue indicating HRP genes?

The babies are 18days old, how in the world could they show any of those things you just asked? Before i showed those pics I clearly state that they were bad pics, not selling them now because my girl friend brought me another. I brought the male HRP from jeff rapps and the HRP is het Pink convict and i know this because all the babies are pink, some are all pink and some are pink with indications of being marble. The blue wont be expressed until they grow some more but im positive that i will produce some blue marbles (HRP Marble) in this batch. I was only going to sell them because i didnt have them room plus i had there babies so i already had the genetics i needed, but my girl got me a tank so im going to keep them and make more of these amazing fish until this first batch is old enough to breed.

This is the HRP male, i cant get pics of the female she keeps running. The female is more of a calico then a marble, i lable them as such if the convict has lots of black and white pattern then its a marble. My female is pink with black blotches on her body and i call those animals calicos but everyone was calling this gene marble so i went with that.

You say you got the HRP from Jeff Rapps. But you also say that it is hybridized with pink convict? Did Jeff advertise it as a hybrid? He is well known to be honest and dependable from what I read in MFK forums so it seems odd that he would sell hybrids unless they were supposed to be. Could the HRP simply have a gene for pink WITHOUT being part convict? Or did Jeff specifically tell you they were hybrids.

If my post seems overly nosy or critical, I don't mean it to be, I am just very interested in genetics and trying to understand exactly what you have in case I some day buy some babies from you. And I am very interested in getting some HRP especially if they are pink and/or marble.

OH, and one more question, The female, is it HRP or Convict or hybrid of both?

And thank you in advance for explaining it all to me.

Here are the pictures of the pink marble that I got from the LFS that I posted about earlier.

It looks male and he does seem to have some faint orange spots that are getting brighter as he gets used to my tank environment. His anal fin shows lots of blue and his caudal fin is clearly red. I am happy with him and he gets along great with all my EBJDs and Gold JDs and Thai Silk Flowerhorn.

Im strting to think that the pink gene is only reccessive when breeding to another convict because the HRP i got from Jeff was a pure HRP. This is crazy that i produced pink offspring and i can also see calico offspring, And some of these animals will have blue on them as well meaning i can make blue marbles from this batch!!!.

It is possible that this is a new mutation. Not necessarily one that has never occurred before in HRPs but has happened in a unique instance in your fish producing what you have. If this is the case it's worth the effort to keep reproducing the babies, keeping them pure HRP and not mixing them with convicts. Eventually letting someone who knows genetics really well and has the space to do the numbers, have a chance to breed them and evaluate the mutation(s).

its recessive in both hrp and convicts. but it depends on the parents. if its like your pair its possible that the pink gene became dominant instead of recessive. witch means one of the hrps parents had to be a blondie hrp for him to carry the pink gene.
