I dont see any hrp in that fish. Thats why I posted both a hrp and black belt pic. The tail of the black belt is alot like krustyart's con. Ive never ever seen and hrp with a actual red tail. Most have yellowish orange hue to thier fins and tail like the pic I posted.

Im 99.9% positive it has black belt in it. Art make a thread in the hybrid forum and see what the experts say.

That because the only HRPs you seen have blue, my HRP has red in his tail fin.

Are you ab-so-freakin'-lutely positive that there is no black belt or convict in my fish? I really don't know what to think of him anymore. He does have a trace of the red iridescence on the belly that female convicts and some males have. Do HRP females have ANY of that red belly? I was told that true HRPs don't get bigger than three inches and this male is already at 4". I was also told that they are much more docile than convicts but this guy dominates the whole tank including a 6 inch female Thai Silk Flowerhorn and all my 3" to 4" Jack Dempseys of various colors. How can I know for certain what he is short of a multi-thousand-dollar DNA assay?

Your not reading correctly, I never said that your fish didnt have convict in it in fact i said its a calico convict x hrp cross. Thats what it is, trust me there is no black belt in that fish because if there was you would have a black line in that fish which is why the black belts are call black belts. Plus it would have passed down way more features then some red fins, which hrps have and some convicts have. You can tell that is a HRP cross and no black belt features, HRPs and convicts have similar features so they blend together perfectly and you see no real difference between an hrp and convict accept for color.

True Hrps get 4.5 inches and that part about being more docile then convicts thats incorrect as well, female convicts have orange bellies that sometimes goes up to the base of the dorsal fin not red. When HRPs cross to convicts the offspring are sexed the same way you sex a regular convict which means orange belly female no orange male, you clearly have a male.

Here are the pictures of the pink marble that I got from the LFS that I posted about earlier.

It looks male and he does seem to have some faint orange spots that are getting brighter as he gets used to my tank environment. His anal fin shows lots of blue and his caudal fin is clearly red. I am happy with him and he gets along great with all my EBJDs and Gold JDs and Thai Silk Flowerhorn.

Look at the vent on this guy clearly male plus no orange in site.

Started a new thread in HYBRIDS with the same pictures. So far most respondents believe it's pure convict. No, HRP, no Black Belt. Just convict.

Definitely no black belt in that, Doom2 you should know better then that!!! i couldnt believe you thought that but there is HRP in that fish.

Hey you never know Ernie its possible.

Ernie hows the fry? My female died. After their eggs died and bond broke. The male beat the crap out of her. Then when she got moved alone she stopped eating and continued to take a beating from a festae in QT. So now I'm back at square one. Looking for a new female and gunna get a male the same size.
