Yeah most fish that use electricity, like the above mentions, and black ghost knifes, use it to find food. Their electric organs (Hunter's organ and Sach's organ) can sense electric currents produces by all living creatures if I am not mistaken. Kind of like how a bat uses echolocation.

Ok thanks guys. It seems like everyone agrees on the rankings so three more questions: Is there anyway that you guys know of to aquire an electric eel? Around how much of the 350 volts would a 5 in electric catfish produce? Does the electric eel and catfish use electricity to navigate and communicate as a knife fish does or is it strictly offensive and deffensive?

You can find both the eel and cat for sale online. I do not recommend them unless you plan on keeping them alone.

...i have been shocked by all most every thing houses, battery charger ,cars that are running,electrical fence none have killed me so i think an eel wouldn't kill me either.
