Hey no stealing my idea! I started this thread lol! One of my questions still wasn't answered though: I know it uses the shock for offense and deffense, but does it use the current to navigate, comunicate and sense other fish like the knife fish are said to do? (by it I mean electric catfish)

As for navigation and communication I am unsure, but to sense other fish yes.
 
anyone else know about the navigation and communication part of this?
 
Nobody mentioned the stargazers!

Also, BGKs and mormyrid fishes use their weak electric fields to map their surroundings, not for predation or protection.

^^ That was very informitive thank you, but it only mentions the electric catfish uses it power for offense or deffense. Then again, it doesn't say it does not use it for navigation and communication. So does anyone know the answer to this?
 
Ok I found that the electric eel uses it for navigation, communication and sensing other fish as well as offense and defense. Still nothing on the catfish though.

They kill much larger animals than you for sure. I wouldn't advise testing your theory of Electric Eel invulnerability.
