Stuck on color for substrate

I have had white-ish sand in a few tanks and hated it in every one, so I switched to black t-grade. I also had gray sand w/ a black background before and it looked good.

That looks great! I dig that alot. I am gonna go see what the distributor has and make my decision then.
 
A couple of thoughts make a cork or slate background and attach to the inside of the tank covering the blue or if your brave Krylon fusion black paint and lots of masking tape-Anne
 
What is the blue background? Spray painted blue? If it was was painted you could paint either black over that on the outside or white if you wanted to darken or lighten the blue. Just an idea, if the blue was just not the right blue, you could def change the darkness of the color that way I bet.

Jayk the blue background is an attached piece of acrylic.
