stuck with a fish!?!

Lol i wouldn't even shut my mouth as far as i know Canadian authorities aren't renowned for taking or caring about fish. The problem here is i don't think they want to house the snakehead, how big can these guys get and what would be the smallest tank to keep it in? i mean if its wasn't bad i would be looking at a snakehead as a future pet. Even though they are illegal, no snakehead can survive a Canadian winter, pretty sure a cop would understand that, at least in canada

Last time I checked, SH are completely legal in Canada

Not in Ontario. Ontario is limiting most species.

I'd say sneak it in to the pet store than secretly put it in a tank in the LFS.

If I'm not mistaken, the most humane way to do it is to basically get a container full of ice and water, allow that container to chill in the freezer until it's about 33F (just above freezing and thus still liquid) take the fish directly out of its heated tank where it'd been living at normal tropical temps, and then drop the fish directly into that container. The fish inhales the cooled H2O directly into its gills, it causes immediate cardiac arrest. The process is quick, painless, and mess free.

wrong ive done this to old sick fh it thrashed around for about 1 minute so i left it and can back in five to find it still alive i felt so bad so i just broke it neck like u do when fishing

I've done it to smaller cichlids, and it worked, but never tried with anything as big as an old FH. Maybe takes longer when they're big.

Talk to the store and try to make em take it back...if they won't, put him in their tank of feeder and walk away ^^
