A friend of mine's mother had a bad cold.. she didn't think anything of it. she thought the same as most.. oh, i'll be fine. It turned out she had walking amonia... she was in her early 40's. and she died from it. All it would have taken was a quick trip to the doctor just to get checked out and she would still be here today.
Yes this is a little overboard in comparing it to your sting, however the principle is still there.

I know after being stung once good, I Really don't want ever to be stung again, no matter how many people say it gets less painful. lol and I bet you feel the same way. Also who are this people who did not learn, say after the first couple of times

looks more like a stab wound , havent seen a wound where the ray actually STUNG you, all i have seen are cuts and deep cuts made by the rays stinger. and that was enough to cause the hand to swell. mine did for over a month. and i did the same thing , as you did, after i got stung.
