Keep the little buggars! Of course that's if You have the tank space and time. It's obvious they wanted to stay with you! ;)

If you don't keep them, I say donate them to somebody local who you know would give them adequate tank space and take care of them.

I'm really surprised. I thought the majority of responsible fish keepers/amateur breeders would say these are fish that should be culled. I'll keep them for a while longer and see what happens. Thanks for all the opines.

id see if they grew if i were you

You never know with stunted fish.
I rescued a Jag that was 6" and a Loisellei about 5" both were 6 years old.
I have had them for 5 months or so and I have started to see growth now. The Jag is about 8" and the Lois is starting to look more like he is supposed to but still growing very slow.

if they had grown under normal circumstances and still stayed this small then i would agree that they should be culled, but by surviving for that long in thsoe conditions they have proven that they are fighters and would probably have been among the faster growing fry if raised with the group, so i think they at least deserve a bit more of a chance to grow since they have already been through so much, however i can also see where you would want to get rid of them if you need the tank for something else. if you really want to get rid of them i would try and find a fellow MFKer or other responsible keeper out there that would like to grow them out and understand that they may not necessarily grow

It's just a miracle that they survived in the first place...........

I thought so too at first. But now that I put it in perspective it's not so much any more. Here's what I mean. Out of 20 or so people who have posted in this thread, it's happened to 3 of us. At that rate it just doesn't seem as miraculous. Still, like I said, I'll keep them for a couple months longer and reevaluate their potential. The one that's started to grow a bit seems to have a long and pointy distorted face. Of course I'm hoping for the best. I'll update everyone who's intested later on. :)
