ok, now does anyone have any other STUPID COSTOMER TRICKS. i'm sick of reading "its not there fault" and "you probably made mistake when you were a noob too". we know all of that, but come on, this thread use to be hilarious, now its just plain boring. so to spice it up a bit, here is a STUPID EMPLOYEE STORY.

me and my brother were at a petcetera and belack (my little bros nickname) was looking at the blue acaras. anyway he asks this girl to bag one up for him, and she says "these aren't blue acaras, the're a cichlid of some kind". me and belack are like "ya, umm, a blue acara is a cichlid". shes like "oh, ok".

why the h*ll does she work there if she doesn't even know that a blue acara is a freakin cichlid.:irked:

oh ya, the blue acara turned out to be a jack dempsey.:irked:

i hate that store. from now on i shop at big al's and nowhere else.;)

This one cracks me up aswell.Yeah, the employee didn't know what she was selling, but you the customer didn't know what you were buying.
I have to ask who was smarter than who.She still made a sale. She accomplished what she set out to do.You however walked away with a fish that was not what you thought it was yourself.
The way I read it is that she told you they were not Blue Acaras but were a cichlid of some kind. She knew they were cichlids and knew they weren't acaras.Yet you still manage to put her down????:screwy:

Him:My tank looks too empty, I want two Midas and a 4 line pim.
Me: What do you have now?
Him:Two Red Devils, two JD's, and two plecos.
Me:How big is the tank?
Him:Huge, it's a 55 gallon.
Me:You are already headed for trouble with overstocking and aggression.
Him:Are you sure? They are small and the tank looks empty.
Me:Yes, but if you really want them, take them. I just won't give you any kind of guarantee on the fish.
Him:So I guess I should just let them grow. It's only been set for a month and they are getting bigger. I'll just save my money for more food.
Me:And a bigger tank. Have a nice day.

Someone else may have already commented but your story is dumb. I guess the fish should have been labelled better but what did the dirl do wrong?? You and your bro where the idiots that thought a JD was an acara.

the fact is that there were jds and acaras in the same tank. i wasn't me who picked out the fish, and it always looked a little "fishy" (pardon the pun) to me. also, i had never seen baby blue acaras or jds before this time, so i wasn't sure which one was which, as the only label said blue acara. my only wrong-doings were trusting a store like that, and shopping there. so, back off. now i'm p-ed off. :irked: :irked: :irked: :irked:

well i havnt worked at a petstore and probably wont, unless i open my own.

but when i was like 12 the "old" LFS owner convinced my bro and i that we could house an oscar, clown knife and a green sunfish in our 29 gallon aquariums...(this is exactly what my brother had stocked, plus a pleco). i had an oscar, pleco, bluegill, fire eel, and a scat (wich is brackish...)...

i did some research at school (mainly books) and found out otherwise (still havnt been able to convince my brother) so now i have a 29, a 30, 55, 75, 1180pond, and a 1350 gal on the way....mainly because of the people on this site. and now i know so much about the hobby (and have all the bad experiences of a beginner, and good of a seasoned hobbiest) i can help people on here and at the LFS.
