stupid LFS

I went down to the LFS to buy a really nice albino senegal bichir it was just listed as albino polypterus. It was seven inches and they wanted $49.99 for it so I finally got the money and tell them what I want and they ask what size tank I had and I told them 135 gallons then they told me that it would get to 3ft. long and refused to sell it to me. I looked at a lot of pictures and the fish at the LFS was identical to a senegal so I knew what it really was. I didn't want to argue with the salesperson so I said forget it and asked for some silverdollars and then she said silverdollars get huge but she eventually got them. I then told her they were senegal bichirs and she just told me they weren't like I was some stupid person who knew nothing about fish. Sorry for the rant but it really made me mad that she was talking down to me when she didn't know what she was talking about. Do senegals get 3ft because everything i read and heard about them says they don't?

no they dont get near. try a 3rd of the size. i have only seen albino senegals for sale (and are the only ones sold commonly) so it would have been a senegal
 
No, they get like a foot. It would be fin in a 135gl. Sounds kind of high for a senegal to even at that size. My LFS has a 12 albino for only $20, but that was a trade in. I hate it when people at LFS do that.
 
Could just be a dumba$$ employee.............go to the store owner and be like "what the f**K (tactfullu of course)", explain what the employee did....... and if he is no help boycott the frickin place and let us know where it is at so we can all boycott it as well!!!!!;) ...........some pet/fish places just suck ass period!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Yeah I have one where I go in all the time and there is this one dumba$$ lady who still asks me what size tank I have and what tankmates the fish will have. It gets so annoying. She has been there for like a year and she still does this.
 
Try to befriend the sensible employees, they will hook you up at times (feeders, trade in values, etc.......) works for me:D :D
 
I know most of the people who work at my LFS, half the time they harrass me. One guy I know at a LFS doesn't count feeders so I always get like 20 or 30 more then I ask for:D
 
I would sue thouse M*****F****** dont think they can refuse to sell you somthing, and i wouldent of gave em my money for the silver dollars... would of told them that you guys just lost a customer and anyone i know and see on the street im going to tell them not to go to your store. all because of their stupidity.
