stupid LFS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just say 500 gallons, no tankmates every time. They learn eventually. These three neons will be very happy!
Ya mines close to that. Most the time i just tell em the truth... and even then they're like wow that should be plenty of room LOL and i nloy have a one fifty.

I always make friends with a cpl of the clerks in LFS's that way 9 times out of 10 there is someone there that knows i know what I'm doing. I even told one I wasnt ready for a RTC and he replied just grow him out in your 90gal until the 150 you ordered comes in that will work until you get a bigger tank. Eventually the people at the store will recognize you and know your'e good at what you do and will respect that. Give them time not everyone who comes into a LFS is a good fishkeeper. That clerk may have just been trying to look out for your's and the fish's best interest. As for the Silver Dollar incident don't blame them because you were so pissed you didnt inspect what you were buying. You are responsible for knowing what you put in your tank. what if that piranah had killed something more expensive than 2 silver dollars would you want to be reimbursed for those fish too. Incompetance on the part of a store clerk does not negate your responsibilty as a fishkeeper/buyer. Just my .02

haha~ not surprised ..there are alot of dumb salespersons in LFS. Last time I went to a one. A salesperson doesnt even know what is Nitrogen Cycle...and he told me that he has kept fishes for more than 10 years.

I would sue thouse M*****F****** dont think they can refuse to sell you somthing, and i wouldent of gave em my money for the silver dollars... would of told them that you guys just lost a customer and anyone i know and see on the street im going to tell them not to go to your store. all because of their stupidity.

Actually that is not true. Any buisness can refuse service to anyone as long as its not based on race/sex/and all that other civil rights ****.

If you want an albino senegal, go to petco(don't normally advise this)but they always have them for less than 10 bucks. And everything I have read says 10 - 14".

I'm sorry sir; The filter flow rate needed for a tank of that size will clearly suck the neons into the filter with a force likely to invert their bodies. I just can't sell them to you knowing they will be turned inside out.

LOL

like ive said all along... back in the old days you got pissed at someone you would shoot them, Now a-days ya sue someone when you get pissed at em... simple action and reaction... belive thats one of newtons laws.

I like that. I'm gonna say that next time.

I usually say. "I have a big tank and I've had it set up for a very long time now".

THey tend not to ask anymore questions after that.

This thread annoys me,
all the time I see rants about fish like pacus and oscars being sold to people who have only 10g tanks, here is someone trying to be a responsible seller, even if they are misinformed.
The way to handle this is to ask for the manager and explain that you are an informed and responsible keeper and that you know the size the fish, both bichirs and silver dollars get to, be sure you DO KNOW. Make sure that the silver dollars (6") are not red hooks (14"), and that the bichir is indeed a senegal and not a P. endlicheri congicus (they do get to 3', are hard to find, and cost more) this picture is from primitivefish.com.
If they still refuse to sell or give you a hard time go elsewhere, but would you rather deal with a place that just doesn't give a damn?
Sheesh, the LFS clerks can't win.

Thanks for speeking up Guppy. I thought I was being an ass for thinking the same thing. It sounds like the sale person may have been misimformed but at least he/she gave a crap. I t's too bad you had a hard time. Better luck next time though.
