Stupid petsmart :p

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that right there is why I dont bother, I just let stuff like that slide because not only will it have no effect on the customer because I dont have the store logo on my shirt so I am a dumbass but you also get kicked out of the store.

so I let them waste their money and the fish will end up in a better place, reincarnated as a great white shark eating people...

I wish all fishkeepers were MFK's. Then the fish would be as happy as we are.

But on a more serious note, I was at my LFS yesterday, and saw one of those mother/child combos near the fish section. You know, the ones buying the tank, filter, food, lights, and fish all at once cause the kid wanted a fish on the spot. The mother had a shopping cart with a 10g, accessories, and was in the process of asking the lady to bag her 5 RED BELLIED PACUS!!! She liked them cause they looked like piranhas. After the store lady told her a 10g would be fine, I respectfully intervened. In all politeness, I told her that a pacu, much less five, would grow way too large for anything less than a 300 (even that is pushing it). At that point, the store lady confronted me, and asked me to leave the store, since I was harrassing the other customers. I implored once again for her not to take the fish, but was then escorted by the manager outside. As I was in my car ready to leave, I see the lady and child walking out, the child jumping up and down in excitement, holding TWO BAGS with 4 or 5 pacu in each. May God have mercy on their souls.

Does your LFS have an owner you can speak to? If so I would definately try to get a hold of them. Unless you were being extremely rude to the other customer there is no reason for a store to treat ANYONE like that.
I have had similar experience at a chain here in town (hoping they go out of business since EVERY single person I've talked to states that they're extremely rude), where the manager told us we weren't allowed in the store anymore because her tone of voice (basically screaming condescendingly for no reason) was unacceptable to me as a customer and I decided to leave (nope, no cussing, no rude comments, simply said "Ok, I guess we'll go elsewear"). The only reason we would even think about going back anyway is because they owed us store credit :irked: , which we had to get back by calling the corporate number over and over again until we could get someone that could help us. The manager had basically said we weren't allowed to use our 135 dollars of store credit after we brought back two ich laden salt fish that they weren't originally supposed to sell to anyone, about a half hour after we bought them.

But anyway, if it's a smaller store, speaking to the owner may yield some results since they would probably be more worried about losing customers than a large chain. Sometimes the owner isn't in the store enough to see how his employees are interacting with customers or what kind of information they're saying.

No, my LFS is petsmart. They don't care about the individual person. And like I said, I was being extremely polite. The employee was probably mad cause the customer realized she was an idiot.

Seriously, try calling the corporate number if you haven't already.
Although I've had bad experiences with individual employees at certain petsmarts I've NEVER had trouble calling the corporate number and explaining my situation. They're usually extremely polite and if you explain that you were treated rudely after trying to help a customer because an employee was giving them extremely misleading information, they're more likely to call the store manager than you think and may even give you store credit.

Well, guess I can give it a try.

You wouldn't believe how much money I've saved calling Petsmarts corporate number, lol. It's worth it.

How much? Enough for free fish? That would rock!!!

I think it depends on who you talk to. I don't wanna name a likely amount because if you don't talk to the right person they may just say "sorry we'll talk to the manager", but sometimes they'll offer a quite a bit (yeah enough for some free fish depending on the ones you want), and my friend even had them negotiating one day when he kept saying he was never coming back.

A lot of people don't realize that some managers tend to go against store policy a lot, or treat people in a rude manner UNTIL someone complains about them, and the higher ups sometimes take care of it pretty quick.
I'm usually careful what I complain about because they'll take it more seriously than you think sometimes and I don't wanna make someone lose their job if they don't deserve it, but someone telling you to leave and then managers escorting you out of the store just because you were talking to another customer is pretty bad.

Now, on an unrelated note, PLEASE ANSWER THE WILD CAUGHT FISH THREAD!!!
