Nice looking tat (??)!

Get some smelt (if you cut it up feed the pieces with the eye, they seem more attracted to that) and throw it in the current. Combined with some starving I am shure he will take it.

I will try it but how many days must leave him without food?

thats an awesome vid

I wouldn't try the clown knife. They are known to be agressive sometimes. Get a catfish or some bichir, because they live in a different water level there will be much less confrontation.

Also, still not completly convinced that yours is a tat, looks armatus like too imo.

i wouldnt do it.
CKs can be aggressive.
back is too straight, and look at the angle of the head.
plus,it has no white border to the caudal.
how fast is the growth rate?

i personally think hydrolycus are wussies.
much more aggressive.
hes a tat, armatus wouldve been much bigger by now.

I have a RCK w my tats , but also have many other fish in the tank as well. The Tats are by far the most fragile fish in the tank. If you are interested in trying the knife I would suggest a small one since it will quickly outgrow the payara and will likley be more aggressive. Your payara looks great! Being in the tank without other aggressive tank mates to stress him out ,is probally why he is doing so well.
