Please stay on topic. I am not concerned they will escape from my pond. I'm just looking for info about the fish and if anybody knows where to get them.
It's a legitimate concern though, if you just confirm the pond will be isolated or at least escape/flood proof it will put a lot of members at ease before advising things that could potentially harm a local ecosystem.
About those black Diamond sturgeon you mentioned, I have never heard of them so I have no idea what that could mean. The only different types that I know of are the normal Diamond sturgeon and the Zebra Diamond variety from the Danube river or the Black Sea.
It do concerns us as we don't want to see these sturgeon species going on the ban list if they escaped from your pond.
as far as the beluga sturgeon go contact wes wong of rare fish a vendor on here he may be able to help with that but from what I know they are very rare to find in the wild at any size due to poaching for caviar there may be captive breeding programs but i'm not sure

It is a spring that feeds out of a hillside on my property that only flows probably 2 1/2 gallons per min. The stream it produces is is maybe 3 or 4 inches deep in the small pools it creates. I stated earlier that the sturgeon were going to be raised to 30-36 inches before they hit the pond. So there is no way that they could fit through my drain tubes and if they happened to. They would die in the stream before they got to any larger bodies of water. And the flood concern, there is a larger stream probably 100 yes or so away. But the base of the dam will be much higher then even the biggest flood we had in the last 80 yrs or so. (family farm). However pond is not yet constructed so I'm still going over further construction ideas if this is even the place I would like it to be...

Its not really a derail, it is a pretty legitimate concern on here. This sites about the responsible keeping of species most people could only dream of. Most of us on here would rather not see yet another species hit the ban lists due to irresponsible people, whether intentional or accidental, allowing non-natives to access a public waterway. I'm not saying you are one of those people, but expect questions of concern to show up on your threads when it comes to keeping something like a sturgeon far outside its normal range in a pond near a possible escape route. That being said I would talk to Wes, he'd be the one if anyone can get you the species you want.
If the sturgeon did spawn then the eggs could flow down the spring, which is a chance I'd not be willing to take. Also a stream only 100 yards away is pretty close. Maybe put a barrier of some sort around the pond.
