So MonsterFishKeepers is the board > Ancient FIsh is the subforum
whats wrong with the term ''Ancient" when reffering to the fish we keep?
And what should the correct title be? And why should it be different than ''Ancient"-Anne

And yes there's a difference

I think the title is fine as is, the fish in this subforum all look ancient/prehistoric.
What was the name you were thinking of?

Ancient suggests old and while the species in the subforum are old there is a better term
to describe them.Especially since there are a number of ''modern'' fish that date back many million years -Anne

Yeppers thats correct.Thats half the answer

Part2.why should it be "primitive"rather than''Ancient"

I would say, because they are closer to the original forms than 'modern' fish. They haven't changed or evolved as much as some other fish. And so, being like the first or primary fishes, they should be called primitive.

Ancient says they are something from long ago. A fossil of one would be ancient. Though some of these fish did live long ago, they live today also and so the fish we have are not ancient anymore.

i think its ancient because the fish haven't changed a hold lot from when they were arounds millions of years ago

Primitive would be better because of this reason they still hold many primitive traits that have worked for many many many generations and still do i think people like ancient better cause it sounds cooler some people think of cave men when they here primitive and think of them as stupid or simple which may not be a bad thing i mean simple not stupid but the more educated find primitive to be a more fitting term for these creatures they didn't need to evolve a hole lot or build weapons to survive

"Ancient" refers to something old in human terms, and some of the fish we keep are geologically older than humans.
