Ok so I'm setting up a 140 and would like to go sand or something that looks like it. I have read about it and think I might be best with pool filter sand?? If I do this what size powerhead should I get n were should I position? Also I was reading. That I should stir it up sometimes.. ne thoughts would be great...

Does ne one have experience w/ caribseas crystal river or something like it... my biggest worries is vaccuming and foggyness but I want sand appearance...thank

Sry if some of this seems like jibberish on cell phone in bio during stupid movie n can't stop thinking about new tank! :D

What kind of live stock are you trying to keep in there? If you buy sand you should already have it clean before putting it in. I have sand in all my tanks, when I change water I suck most the poop and other waste off the surface and the fishes I have usually stirs around my sand bed everyday. Or consider fresh water mussels I hear that they will also stir up your sand pretty good.

I have a Texas cichlid, pleco going in from old tank and I'm ordering a Lima shovelnose.

corydoras stir up the sand as well. i have a large group of corys that stirs up the sand very well

I thought play sand is bad hence 5 more dollars for pool sand...

Money isn't issue I want sand or something that looks like it that is easier to take care of

Play sand is fine, just have to wash it more than PFS. Having saying that, I prefer PFS.. I have it in my tank and love it.

play sand works fine for me. just need half a day to let it settle intially but all should be good. was it out thoroughly. when i do water changes very little to none gets sucked up
