Suction cups for moving bigger tanks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Don’t bother with the suction cups. Wear a nice pair of gloves that lets you get a good grip on the tank and always remember to lift with your back in a jerking twisting motion.

It took four guys to move my 220. Just put one on each corner. My dad and I were able to lift it by ourselves, but it was a lot. You should be able to lift a 180 with just one on each side.

Another option is to get furniture dollies. I set my 220 on two furniture dollies and moved it around my garage while I worked on it and got it ready. You just have to lift it one side at a time and slide the dollies under. I got my 220 up on dollies all by myself. Then, you can just roll it around.

Personally, I wouldn’t trust suction cups.

The cups were going to be $28 ea which I thought was ridiculous for a day.

So I bought moving straps as backup to our gloves

Oh yeah those dollies are life savers for big tanks and stands

Took 2 of us to move both the 500s out of the house into a guys trailer. ~700lbs per tank

That's no joke. If I can get a grip on it I'm good to go. The problem I have is most people that are available to help most of the time fold up like cheap lawn chairs with anything over 100

Do it like the Egyptians. Lay dowel down, roll the tank on them and progress forward

Wow, my ears are ringing! It’s hell to get old. Only to have your son tell you, “Dad, quit buying these stupid fish tanks if you can’t lift them”
:hitting:

Did you get the tank? If so, how’d it go?

Messy. I had to unhook and drain the overflows in a dark room. It wasn't bad at all weight wise 2 of us scooped it up and put it in the back of my truck. The stand is one of those standard issue pine deals though. 2k lb in my living room on that..not happening

They sold me like 5 huge pieces of driftwood for cheap as well.
