No stray voltage. I rang the heater out and found no shorts. Heater and pump cables show no stray current on an ammeter. Lights are 2ft above the tank so, no problem there.

As for autopsy. I've slitted the abdomen and ran the stomach, intestines, and bowel. Found yesterday's feeding but, no purulency, edema, necrosis, or any sign of infection. KOH smear shows normal flora in the digestive tract (as compared to examples in text books). Took a snip of gill and it looks healthy. A smear of blood from the gill showed normal looking cells. I don't want to cut further since we want to have the AUL skin mounted.

Sorry to hear Phil. I couldn't imagine losing a fish I've had that long. The worst part is the unknown cause.

You have any labs around you that could autopsy the fish? Maybe give an answer as to why?
