Suggestion for petition against some restricted species..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There just too many snakes out there to know.

I didn't even know there was such thing as a Russian Racer... If I remember correctly, one of the people responsible for making the 3m law said that it was so the Animal Control officer or Peace officer don't have to memorize the restricted species, and can just use a measuring tape. So it would be easier to enforce.

However it doesn't stop people from trying to stunt their snakes. ;)

Oh, and what about the Yellowtail and Unicolour Cribos at 10'?

LOL Well having it refer to 3m+ Boids would make more sense...

You are correct, that beats the largest Eastern Indigo, which I always thought was the largest member of the genus...

I think the UK list isn't too bad to be honest. Can still keep large boids, and not so lethal rear fanged species. Other venomous and crocodilians require a licence. You should aim towards something like that. Oh and don't go suggesting species to ban... that's all you need :nilly:

If you make enough noise they may call for them to re-look at the current prohibited list, and some changes may be why. You'll have to explain though that the animals cause no problems to people or native flora or fauna.

They don't care about why things are on the bylaw, better people than me have tried. I can just see my convo with the bylaw guys (who FYI are the same people who do the fence heights, parking spaces and all other municipal bylaws) if they ever see my snakes...

"Is that a harmless Children's Python?"

"No sir, it's a deadly venomous cobra/black mamba/taipan"

"Oh, well that's fine, it's not on the list"

It seems really dumb that they are banning all those tortoises. None of those listed would ever harm anything. If any of them ever got out, they probably wouldn't survive.

I also think that could work. Here we have a very similar battle. I dont keep snakes but I feel sorry for the snake guys. Here you cant keep any species of boa or python regardless of size or species:screwy: And banning tortoises:nilly: Has this world come to a end?
