Suggestions for a 55g Bichir tank.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's exactly what I though. I'd rather stick with something I know my tank will handle. I'd rather upgrade because I want to, not because I have to.

I feel the same way though I have been tempted like you wouldn't believe.

Well, the store I ordered my sens from told me straight up that they wouldn't be able to order more polypterus for a while. It could have just been a business ploy... I will make the call this weekend to see for sure, but I am not getting my hopes up.

edit: An endli? Cut it out... :D lol
lol they would be in a 125

OH yeah... I forgot you were getting that.

How is that looking so far?

Back to discussion:

I've been thinking about stuffing another bichir or two (two if sens, one if del) in the tank when possible, and getting a big school of Giant Danios. I know that may sound strange, but in my barebottom tank, picture some large, dark-colored rocks spread around 2/3 of the tank, allowing the bichirs to swim around them, hide behind them -- whatever. Now imagine 4-5 bichirs roaming around the bottom of the tank while you have a tightly schooled shoal of 10-15 2-3" fish taking care of the top 1/3 of the tank.

I think that would look KILLER. I'm almost completely convinced that's what i'm doing. But being as indecisive as I am, I can't be sure. :D

BTW that would be awesome! but would your delhezi :headbang2 get em?

Ehh, doesn't matter... 15 is probably too many anyway. I'll let the bichirs decide how many is the appropriate number. :D

J/k..... Kind of.

8 would be the best # IMO ;)

I had a school of five before in my 40g until they started dropping like flies, and I always thought a school of at least 10 would look awesome...

It's still just an idea, but a very appealing one.
