Nice pick up. It's a good looking fish but it is also funny looking - its body is only a bit shorter than the length of its head. Could be a short body TSN. vincentwugwg vincentwugwg would know.

Was thinking the same thing

Short body tiger shovelnose I haven’t heard of this is this something people have bred into them to make them smaller.

Nice pickup. I love the TSN’s but I know that my 220 is too small to house them. That is why I went with a couple vulture cats. Even those might outgrow my tank and need rehomed at some point, but there is a chance they will be ok. I don’t feed heavily and their growth has slowed a lot since they hit 9-10”. My largest one is a little over 12” right now, and the other is right behind it. Here are a few pictures of them.

If I ever have to rehome my vultures, I might try a TSN after that, since it has become apparent that the ones available in the hobby are all culls that will not reach a very large max size. Plus, my LFS gladly takes in large fish to rehome them into better equipped tanks, so I can always go that route if necessary.

Btw, if you find that the TSN isn’t active enough for your liking, the vultures are very active. My pair swim around pretty much nonstop, and I know J jaws7777 has said his vulture has become very active as it grew larger. I still think the TSN is the best looking, in my opinion.
