I have read loads lately about how Sumatra Indos are more stable. Ordered 2 to see if it’s true as it came up at a good price. Had these 2 for over a month now and it’s 24/7 stable!

I have read loads lately about how Sumatra Indos are more stable. Ordered 2 to see if it’s true as it came up at a good price. Had these 2 for over a month now and it’s 24/7 stable!
Lookin good Andrew! My theory is that the Sumatran label is after they’re hand picked out of a bunch of Black Darth Vader’s indos (bruised banana indos) when young, lol. Think about it Fellas/Gals. They’re caught in Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Mekong Delta, and several other SE Asian Countries. How does one become the ‘Sumatran’ label

Disregard this loose conspiracy theory. Lol. Before my further research of Indonesian dats. The false labeling would only occur if the dealers are being dishonest.
On a separate note. 4-5 years ago. My lfs were able to buy 3 to 4 batches of consisting of hundreds of baby pieces 0.50” and smaller. I was able to hand pick several Symmetrical split bars and 3’s. Maybe, these indo batches slipped through the cracks before being handpicked. I got about 20 pcs and my buddy got 50. Boy was that fun !

Datnoid is native to Asia. Someone have this creative idea to name the Silver Dat the AMERICAN TIGER (AT).
I wouldn't call it the same theory.
Just about every serious dat keeper knows that none of the species are collected in America and the silver dat is not a geographical variant like the indos are.The AT term is an old and rarely used name for the silvers.I don't know how the name came into use but I suspect it has something to do with the silvers being the least popular dat species in the Asian market.
Had a similar theory but picked up a couple “Sumatran” dats and they are mostly stable...way more than my indos, which was surprising. The thing I don’t understand about what you’re saying is how cherry picking young stable dats would ensure they’d stay stable. I’ve seen stable dats go unstable and vice versa just by switching owners or environments so I just shop for pattern. That’s been my experience. But if you’re saying the stable ones, when picked young, will stay that way, then I’ll have to shop for that.Lookin good Andrew! I remember this from back around 2012, best time I've ever had in the hobby. Those, "baby tigers" were all like $12-16 a pop, and the store I worked at I could get a discount for around $9..What a steal by today's standards.
