Is there any chance of a colony of shrimp that can survive the fast moving water?

This is a great idea, im running 3000lph through sump, will cherry shrimp be ok? Will they require additional feeding?

How about a bumblebee catfish? I think they stay >3"

I have approx 3600gph running through the sump when everything is setup. It's 100g sump. I feel it's alot of flow for shrimp. But if u guys think it's ok it's worth a shot

I keep reading that they like low water movement. I have approx 1600gph moving through the sump (100g) what's the opinions on that.

They survived and bred fine in my sump which probably had 30-40g of water in it and a 5500gph pump on it so um ya. They may not have been the happiest critters but they served a purpose.

The main question is whats up with your sump passing pellets? Usually they have some sort of mechanical filtration first so all that passes is microscopic detritus. As earlier stated not much can live off that except shrimp

I'd go w/ the shrimp and some otocinclus sucker cats, the cats will keep the walls clean and the shrimp will have the bottom covered

First chamber has egg crate and sponge at the bottom for mechanical filtration. I want them to live above it.
