Sump Help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo

Thanks for taking the time to attach all of those pictures, really helpful.

I was just looking over the tank and saw this weird scalloped glass, the tank is full and obviously not leaking. What do you all think?

It looks as though the scallop is on the inside of the glass but behind the seal

Route both drains to one side of the sump into your mechanical filter (sock, mesh, sponge whatever), as said before connect both returns to your pump and put that on the opposite side of the sump. That way water enters on one side and is forced through the media to the return pump.
As for the scallop idk I had one on a 75g no issues tank is still running at a buddies house and is probably 15 years old now. Had a 65g cube with a scallop and came home one day to 60g on the floor. I think it depends on tank size glass thickness and the spot where it's on the tank. Did you buy it new? Any warranty? It's in a weird spot sounds like it could have happened if new in the manufacture of it.

It's a brand new tank. The scallop is unacceptable in my eyes, I'm contacting the LFS today. Plus the tank doesn't sit flush on the stand. That's two bad stands and tanks in a row.

It could very well be the floor but I don't trust the tank with the glass like that, especially considering it's brand new.

Another guy in a local aquarium club around here received a warped stand from the same LFS and his tank was missing a significant portion of silicone. Not saying it's the LFS's fault per se but Aqueon is messing up a lot here.

While i agree that the chip is unacceptable, you took the tank from the LFS and brought it home and set it up. I doubt they are going to warranty a chip since that have no idea what happened to that tank once it left their store.
