JoelR;2746230; said:Why would you have to drain it? You have an overflow, you should be able to just drain that at most. If you are just replacing the tube, turn of the return pump. Wait for the overflow to stop, and replace the hose.

and I would try the smaller hose...what size barb fitting is it and what size hose is currently on it. If its not hard to get on the barb fitting its probably to big...maybe.
Also just a heads up...and place that the water is splashing or whatever like from all the bubble in the sump...it will create a big mess with saltwater. ONce the water evaps it leaves behind a nice salt creation called salt creep (thats what I call it anyway) So make sure you cover any spot that might be bubbling out of the sump. Also if you have a slight leak in your hose lines you will see the same salt creep...even if its not vivibly leaking..
