Like I said, the guys at aquatic kingdom have the genuine but they also stock china cheapo's but they are always willing to make a deal with their customers, the sticker price is never firm lol fish and product usually can be bargained with. Tho they are out my way just west of the 427 on dundas

Hey no problem, I am always willing to help another fish guy out, if you have any questions that you think i can help with PM me cuz I am kinda speratic on here these days. I have been around the business for a fairly long time and can help point in the right direction. I like to find the cheap way that is still the right way when doing things.

I am thinking I may try to bargin at big als just because there american website is almost 40 dollars less than the canadian one. silly

With the American dollar being where it is right now you might get it, but the can be A-holes I use to work for them too, first at the oakville store then for head office. They left a very bad taste in my mouth in the end.

Ya for sure cheap isn't always best, but i like to look at what is necessary and what isn't. Its funny what we think we need and don't.

they have to me as well,

The sump I bought on kijiji for 30 bucks and got a berlin skimmer for 20,

pretty sweet

Well I am not using the skimmer yet because I have a fw tank, in time I plan on going to salt

I had to modify the sump so I cut the tank up and modded it as needed. Silly me I didnt know that you have only two options for sealing acrylic, the weld on solvent or jb waterweld,

Long story short before I knew this I went to big als and told them I had an acrylic sump and I needed a sealant, they got me to buy a 14 dollar tube of Silicone that is aquarium safe, turns out it is virtually useless for acrylic unless it is just for the baffles.

I have heard you can use GEI sealant but from what I have found around here that silicone have mildew resistance and that I have been told can harm the fish.

I feel like I got shafted and dont know if I want to give them anymore money

oh ya that sounds typical from them. Ya the ge works great just get the window and door type i think its GE II anything that is 100% silicon is fine as long as it doesn't have the mildew and fungus stuff in it.
I hope you didn't pay much for the berlin, they are touchy and hard to calibrate when you go to set it up. Just a heads up, Skimmers are the one area that I would not skimp on less you have a tank under or around 50g and can do regular water changes.
Ya a lot of times big al's screws people, they get them into the hobby and chase them out at the same time, so frustrating to see.

yup I agree they are pissing me off, I am going to go by mops tomorrow and see what I can do on the prices there.

All the silicones I found around hamilton have the mildew resistance so thats why I was stuck.

I only paid 20 bucks for the berlin, I heard they are a bit testy but I figured for 20 bucks why the hell not lol

ya, not a bad price, but talk with me when your going to set up the salt. I have a lot of experience in the setups. I can give you my salt water speech in regards setups and start ups. I am heading off I will talk with you again, like I said any questions drop me a line :)
