Just curious, how do you only have 18” of width in a stand for a 24” wide tank?My challenge is the width. I barely have 18"
Also, is your tank 24” or 36” wide?

I’ve always had wide tanks and thought I’d switch it up with this one. It’s 24” wide and 36” tall. Here’s the start of the stand. With the double 2x4s I’ve taken up some interior space.Just curious, how do you only have 18” of width in a stand for a 24” wide tank?

Yes, if you can swing it you should perhaps. But at some point it's diminishing returns. For me, I dont see any benefits of going bigger unless it diluted my nitrate level. It filters just fine and my equipment fits 25 more gallons won't make a differnce for me.Hello. I’m finally getting around to setting up my 72x24x36, ~260 tank. I had planned on using a 40 breeder as a sump. Do you think that’s big enough? I’m going to be dripping water into it too. I have the 40 breeder. Do you think it’s worth dropping $100 on a 55 gallon? Any other ideas?
Good call there. Didn’t think of that. I have a bunch of metal mending strips left over from a building my daughters playhouse You think those would work?Ditch those inside 2x4’s and put something thinner in there. They are just nailers they don’t need to be so thick. The load is placed on the 2x4 under the top plate. The stand I built the nailer is the front finish panel. I don’t even have a nailer on the inside. Thus freekng up maximum space under the stand.
Got it fixed up and just picked up a used 75 gallon and a diamond hole saw. Giddy upThat would work good.
That’s great! You will definitely no regret going with the 75.Got it fixed up and just picked up a used 75 gallon and a diamond hole saw. Giddy up
