Ok so any of yall that saw my first post/thread know that one of my sun catfish got stuck and I had to pull him out. In doing so I rubbed a few scaled off hit tail and it looked red. That was a few days ago. Now I was messing with the tank and searched for him to make sure he was ok, his tail is completly gone! It's just a red stump and where the tail connects to the body is turning black, what the hell so I do? I have no idea. Fungus medication and lots of water changes. Maybe a quarantine tank? If this stupid thing will let me then I'll upload a picture. I'll upload it no matter what. I can't just stand by and do nothing.

I personally would place Sun Catfish in quarantine and treat but if fin on tail is completely gone it won't grow back.

Can he live without his tail?

Haha I got it! Also I had a female blue gourami (bless her soul) that somehow got her tail neatly clipped off under a piece of driftwood, don't ask me how it happened because I have no idea, and she regrew it perfectly. Would a waterchange of 50% everyday help? Maybe 2 50% everyday?

And sorry about the bad pic, it's from my phone :/. But you get the idea of what I'm dealing with
Oh and also see where the tail is red? Just below that where it turns into the body is kinda black

That's a pretty bad bacterial infection, probably Columnaris. It will spread quickly and kill the fish unless treated ASAP. I would look for trimethoprim sulfa or kanamycin and nitrofurazone. Erythromycin may also work but wouldn't be my first choice.

Can I buy that at a pet store? If so I'll go get it tomorrow.

Ok I have an old pill bottle with 10 amoxicillin with each tablet being 875 MG.
If it is any help, the bottle was filled 04/30/2013
Can these be of any help? If so I'll move him to me 20 gallon quarantine and move the inhabitants somewhere else. I'm 99.9% sure they are good to go and I'm 99.9% sure my sun cat will die if I don't do anything.
