I'm starting a 75gal saltwater and was thinking about where to setup? I planned on it going near a window in a living room. It wont get direct sunlight but it will get some. I was thinking this will affect temperature at times. Would I have any other problems? If so I need to rearange furniture before I setup. It is a FOWLR. Thanks...

So no sunlight at all?
that would be peferable. keep in mind algae will only grow if theres nutrients to feed it, which i kinda suspect there will be in a FOWLR. but it is doable especially if you have a skimmer.

i have a goldfish tank near a window algae is definitely stronger on the side close to the window. but its still manageable. i do large water changes weekly, i kinda think you would want to avoid this in salt as i know i did when i had a reef tank.
opposite to most people i tend to take pretty good care of my goldfish since they live 40 years. so its definitely workable just be aware of the extra problem this window may add.

Thank you Sostoudt. I am getting a skimmer right away,I fiqured I ask now before I setup so I can redo living room. Wow 40 year old goldfish thats great!

mine arent 40 years yet but i plan on them to be. the oldest goldfish in the world is 43(recognized by guiness). the second oldest was 41. the 43 year old was owned by a lady that kept it in a fish bowl its life time lol. however there or competing claims of equally or older fish that guiness doesnt recognize.

these really arent a fluke as ive heard goldfish keepers have 30 year old ones. there relative the koi can live over a 100 years.

i figure with my better filtration and husbandry mine will definitely make it 40 years.

also chose your skimmer careful as they do vary alot. i personally liked my coralife needle wheel one but there much better ones out there.

i know skimmers can be expensive but if you get a good one you will never regret it, thats a promise. its as if your sucking the fish waste right out the water.

Believe me I don't mind spending the money for good stuff. I'd like to do things right hopefully and keep healthy fish. That's also why it's taking me some time to get things togther. I can't wait though.

if it was a reef tank sunlight is great for it with a FOWLR unless you have a good clean up crew u'll go crazy cleaning your diatom algae's from the sunlight.

I did plan on getting a good crew along with good skimmer to hopefully cut down on some maintainance. As soon as I fiqure out what I need exactly...? ( I still have more questions than answers)
