super agressive cichlid for a 48x12 ?

honestly for that size tank I wouldn't look for anything that will grow larger than 6-8" tops. Salvini would be about as big a fish as I'd look for and they can be quite aggressive and are very pretty so this might be your best bet. Convicts or neets are probably the next best choice for you as far as aggressive, smaller cichlids go.

I wouldn't put a flowerhorn in a 55 for life, but it would last a while in there. What do mean when you ask for an agro fish? Are you looking for something that will bang the glass or something that will eat other fish?
 
A Single Green Terror would be an ideal occupant for a 55g. It meets your aggressive fish request, is a great wet pet and would probably be quite comfortable as an adult in that tank.
 
I kept a GT in a 55g for eight years and he was 10" when he passed. He was a very aggressive glass banger but since I joined MFK, I now believe that was because the tank was a bit too small. The smaller space makes them more crazy but he was quite a show piece. My friends loved him.
 
i would do ether a pair of Salvini or a pair of sajia.
 
Female festae rarely get above 11 inches. That a grammode, or a GT would be the most colorful and interesting choices in my opinion. Although they are not crazy, a freddy or loiselli is a beautiful choice as well. They max out at less than 12 inches.
