Legal Arowana Species/Types in the United States
1. Silver (common)
2. Silver (Platinum) note: not a different species
3. Black (similar in looks wise but with black fins & other noted differences)
4. Blue "same as the above.
5. African (not really a Arowana)
6. B. Jardini (Australian Arowana or AKA: Pearl Arowana)
7. B. Leichardti "
Note: If you are interested in B. Jardini's & B. Leichardti's these are known to be the most aggressive type of Arowana. So if your looking for a Arowana to be kept together with other fish it is not a wise choice unless you're willing to take the risk...
All other Arowanas/ Asian Arowanas (Ex: Red, Chili Red, XB, RTG are all considered "Asian Arowanas" which are illegal)

lol hahado 'blue' arowana stay blue? I see them for sale on pet solutions and others, but it just seemed like a scam or something to me. they're legit and stay blue? that's bananas.
i believe so but im not sure 100% biggest blue ive seen was around 22" so not sure it will maintain that blue color when full grown 30"+
well i found online tat someone can sell me 5 asian arowana 2 super red 1 chili 1 rtg and 1 asian arowana for a total of 3200 shipped to me. so im guessing this is a scam?? he said the fish is comin from africa... i thought aros comes from maylasia and singapore. he is suppose to send me the microchip info and the certificate bnut if this is a scam i guess im never goin to get it. is asian aro eally illegal in the USA cuz i see ppl in southern california selling it all the time.. please inform me

I too ran across those ads on numerous online classifieds from van huyn ponds. IMO its definitely a scam. His only means of payment is through Western Union which in notorious for scams. Even craigslist has a disclaimer about using Western Union in transactions
