Alright! 3 months later. And then there were 3. 5 days ago I sold off 3 of the 6 - never intended to keep all - and this is where we're at. One in a 55gal solo, one in a 120gal sort of solo (one little baby midas with him/her) and one in the 8ft tank with a pair of cutteri and about 30ish midas babies. 1 and 2 looking freaking awesome IMO and I will honestly not be sad at all if they keep this colouring forever. 3rd also cool looking, but hoping he/she fully fades.

Honestly, not a LOT of change in any of them really. I'll try to get some new videos in the next few days. #1 has been named, Cypher, and has lost all his black but did not fade to red tex colours, he's basically just a super pretty blue/green texas. Gorgeous boy regardless and beautiful fins on him, so he's a keeper (hence being named lol). #2 is almost entirely black still, and I am actually super happy about that. Female, currently living in the 8ft tank with the midas juvies and the third SRT and getting along with everyone for the moment. I'll be rearranging tanks in the next couple of weeks and splitting everyone up though. And #3 has only just recently, in the last month or so, started to fade out more of his/her black, but just looks like a spangly peach coloured fish underneath. Will be selling him.

Update - I've gradually sold off all but 2 (never intending to keep all 6) and after a tank shuffle over the last weekend I have a male in a 120gal - Cypher - who is completely unfaded and essentially just a texas hybrid who has beautiful colours and stunning fins, so he's been a keeper for a long time regardless of his lack of red texas appearance; and a female - Nova - who has been moved back into the 75gal now. She has been an extremely jet black base with the iridescent blue/green spangles for most of the year, which I genuinely had hoped she would keep because it was super unique and totally gorgeous. However, in the last few weeks she has started to fade some, though I doubt she'll ever really hit "red texas" stage.

Based on external signs, these hybrids are >F2, so there should be no problems with fertility. Do you plan to breed them or limit yourself to contemplation?

I'm not limiting myself to anything 🙄 No, I have no intention of breeding them. Don't see the point.
