I look for redtails, with straight lines....but some people like the yellow, or squiggly lines, the balck specks on the body seem to mostly fade as it grows
And they do suck slime coat....at least some do, some don't, and may not for a long time and then start. I would also recommend against the ray idea.....too tempting for the flagtail....but people do successfully do it....if you get lucky with the flagtail could work...
IME....mine is about 7" and it is the best tank cleaner I have ever had.......eats all the green algea, and in general is such a well mannered fish, that also seems to be able to hold its own...to a point...
