I recently purchased a henlei pup for somebody. He practically gave it to me because he couldn't get it to eat shrimp. I have had it for 3 day. I am currently dosing with 2 1/2 cups of salt for a 75 gallon tank, and prazi pro. I have tried feeding it night crawlers, frozen blood worms, live tubiflex worms even feeders, and it still refuses to eat. Is there anything else I can do or try? Please help. I have owned 12 rays and never lost one. I don't want to start now.

stop giving it prazi first than give him some nightcrawlers like today or quickly. They wont eat shrimp but any ray cannot resist a worm, how big is this ray

and put him in a tank without fish that are bigger than him and keep the lights dimm
the bigger fish thing is very important to get him eating.best results if he is alone in a tank

He is by himself, and about 5", would the prazi effect his appetite?

yup.

why r u using prazi and salt?

Is this a wildcaught ray? If it was wildcaught how long has it been in captivity? Was it eating before the move to your tank? How big is the ray?Is your tank fully cycled? Your best bet is to remove your tankmates put the temp up to 84 turn out the light and cover the tank. As far as feeding try blackworms they are the miracle food with rays and can live in the tank so the ray can eat at will if they are not available then red worms if the ray is small and if it's big then canadian nightcrawlers. Worms can survive usually for at least 12 hours without dying.

The ray is supposed to be captive bred from H2O. I was using prazi/salt because I was assuming it was sick because it wasn't eating. Tank is cycled.

5" rays can eat chopped nightcrawlers and they are very fatty but give him blackworms first they are amazing they just dont fatten the ray as quick.try both

medication will never get a ray to eat.i hate medicating rays and against it,salt is great
