im pretty sure mike starts all his pups on blackworms...

if this ray was from mike why are you using prazi
I believe he said this ray is suppose to be from H20, which could mean he didnt get it straight from mike. I doubt mike would start giving out rays almost for free just becuase he cannot get them to eat shrimp. Internal parasites could've easily been transfered to the ray during the time it was kept by the previous owner. I find it hard to believe that you hate medicating and that you are all in for salt as you didnt even know you could use salt in a ray tank until a week or 2 ago. You're also wrong about the medication. Prazi may not be needed in this situation but I've had many where the ray would start feeding after a dose of prazi or other meds. I have no clue where you get the idea that medication will NEVER get a ray eating.

I'm with Gshock on Prazi and appetite. I have an oddball Marble that eats like a champ with Prazi in the tank. Remove Prazi and appetite decreases. Add Prazi again and appetite increases. I know other hobbyists have experienced increased appetite after Prazi as well. I have yet to see any ill effects whatsoever from Prazi.

I recently lost Marbles slowly 1 by 1 and stopped it with Prazi. Assuming whatever the cause, it was most likely transferred to the rays by feeders or un QT'd Characins. No new rays had been added for months and my rays just got up and sick on me. Thought this was worth mentioning cause the simple fact that a ray is CB does not mean it's immune to disease, all it takes is one infected fish, or feeder fish to swim in the same water and it's tainted.

I would have taken the same action. Can be VERY misleading trying to seperate all the info around here. Stuff gets gargled from one person to the next and everytime it's passed on info is added to, left out, and completely open to misinterpretation. Then there's armchair experts that read a bunch and pass that info on regardless of whether they have any experience with the problem at hand. Hard to find trustworthy information when there's so many different opinions.

Surprised no one has mentioned ghost shrimp. They are my go to for any new ray I get. Blackworms are hard to get and expensive. Even the baby histrix I brought in jumped on them.

If ray does have parasite...and not eating, appetite will slowly return while dosing with prazi.

I have never done prazi & salt at the same, usually one or the other, depending on symptoms.

50% water change daily
bare bottom tank
keep lights off
80-82deg water
live blackworms in the tank ALL DAY LONG!!!!! he will eat while your not watching. if he wont eat blackworms then your 99.9% likely to loose your ray.

the method mentioned above has worked foe me 100% of the time. i even brought back a flower ray that was days away from death. it was so skinny her forehead was sunken in and you could count every bone in her body.

the ray will start slow but after a couple of weeks you'll be pissed off at having to buy blackworms so often!!! lol

Thanks guys, yeah it is a little confusing with all of the info on here. I did not get the ray from mike. The guy I got the ray from purchased it from him. So i figured maybe he fed it a bad feeder or some how it contracted a parasite or something. Thats why I added the salt/prazi.

I did a wc. Going to see if that helps. I will try to go get some ghost shrimp today.
