Super skittish Armatus.

i wouldnt expect the fish to swim in the current, thats not a good indicator of whether or not you have enough current... me personally, and i know i go overboard with current, i'd have the filter return, plus at least 1 powerhead at about 1000-1400 gph .... even better 2 for a total of 2000 in a 75 .... still, and quiet water can make them more "jumpy" whereas lots of action and noise in the water simulates a more river environment, and "dulls" external noise/vibrations, not to mention the slime coat and strength benefits of having strong current

I just sold my tat and he was skittish all the time and he was in a 180 and still hit the glass it does get very annoying after a while... I had great current in there for him barely any tank mate just a 6.5 inch Nile perch and a pair of 4.5 inch geos so he ruled the tank and was still skittish

Did the tank mates bother the armatus in any way?

Holyy! If I taKE OFF the black cover, the armatus begins to freak out again! When my armatus is scared, it doesn't dart across the tank. My armatus just frantically rubs it nose against the tank and tries to swim away!

Hey slippy K, do you have strong current too?

Ok, who DOESN"T have strong current with armatus? comment if you don't.

Is a power head with 400 gph good? What minimum? The cheaper the better.

No not at all the geos kind of just hung in the back by a piece of driftwood till feeding time then they would just swim around picking up left over pieces of food and then go back to there hang out and my Nile perch would just come out to feed once feeding was over he would mostly just hang in the plants and drift wood and the payara usually sat in the current in the center of the tank

I realized that my armatus started to get super skittish when I removed an artificial plant from my tank.. Could that be why. It was one glow in the dark plant in the center of my tank.

Could that of made my armatus more secure?

The nose is pretty badly bashed up. A tiny part of the curved tip is rubbed flat (I think). Think it'll heal 100%? It extremely not serious.

When would the tat hit the tank then? Would it be random?
