superworms to rd

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
no i didnt see it but i dont think my firend was bluffing because his fish did die. But yea probably somehting else killed the fish

they dont swallow the worm whole, they chew..or grind it up first before swallowing it, plus the it would never be able to live in the stomach acid, so there is no way it could have chewed up the insides

this is a myth with reptiles also, its pretty much started in petstores, with employees telling customers that mealworms will chew up the stomach and its better to feed crickets

when i was keeping reptiles i never fed any of them a single cricket, lol

so yeah, its just a myth

i say go ahead and feed your fish the meal/superworms, he'll enjoy them

lots of protien :D

thanks guys
the reason i asked is because they have a hard but thin shell and are larger then regular meal worms.

I feed my cichlids nightcrawlers from walmart 2.88$ for 24 with good results:headbang2 and i also think that the rd had a stroke:eek: or somthing a mealworm cannot kill a rd evan if he swalloed it whole like the mightyoscar said stomach acid will kill them just my 2 cent dudes.lol:D

i have also heard of the mealworms killing the fish, but i just fed 50 to my fish this week and no problems. and my old leopard gecko had no problem with them either lol

I've also heard of this mealworm problem, I find freezing mealworms being a very good solution. They don't stick together when they freeze, you can store them, and they are easy to handle.
