I got a call from the manager of our LFS last night. I thought perhaps my Electric Blue JD had come in. Turns out they're going out of business. In a few minutes I'm going to be able to buy all the fish I want for pennies on the dollar. While it's a great deal, there's a major price being paid. I loved our LFS. It was five minutes from my house, and I drive by it every day on my way to and from work. I've referred several of my friends to it. I've spent over $1,000 there in the last year. I've done my part to sing it's praises. Yet, they're going under. It's sad, and it sucks. I understand the way businesses work, but just for once I'd like to see the little guy come out on top. More and more I see the Mom and Pop places falling by the wayside. A hobby that is ruled by the big box stores is a hobby I want no part of. There were a few times where I went to the PetCo that's even closer than the LFS. Usually for food, or on Sunday when the LFS was closed. I guess in the end every last penny counts. The people who own the LFS are good people, and the manager I consider a friend. It sucks to see so many people in this world who work hard and are honest, decent people get trampled, while there are others who are just straight up A-holes who are making a killing. Sorry for the rant. Just needed to get that out. Support your LFS. You're the only thing keeping them in business.
