Suriname piraiba

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for your feedback with this and glad it tallys up with what ive experienced. Funny fish really i really thort the feeding habits would match that of a red tail catfish. His having a good feeding routine at the min so hope it stays for now i want him to be able to compete well in the main tank

Great looking setup.
My Piraiba exhibits the same traits too. In his old tank he may catch the odd food item as it fell if he was really hungry but generally ignored everything until it was on the bottom, then would do a few slow loops of the tank before picking bits up.
Now in his slightly bigger tank he is letting the goonch and marmoratus feed first and only picking up the odd bit, not even doing any loops. Has never really settled in this tank and I actually think it's because of the change in flow. Still a large flow rate but this tank is set up the opposite way around with the water flowing left to right instead of right to left, crazy idea but I think he got used to the old setup.

Have you insulated that garage yet? If not the electricity bill must be enormous here in the uk. And that thing must weigh over 12 tonne full ........... I hope your garage is reinforced. :OMG:
