In all my years of keeping fish I have never seen a case of Duck Lips before and searching gives poor results.
I have a Gold Severum that has what must be Duck Lips, extended mouth, clamped shut and developing red nose nostrils with a very distinct white on the extended portion of lips.
Not eating and not even sure if it can open its mouth. I have been out of town for several weeks on and off so I cannot say when this occurred or how long it has been this way. Nitrates are good but a water change is due tomorrow anyhow so I am going to do it today instead if time permits. Fish is not withering away yet, but I am sure that wont take long if it cant eat.
1) Is this a contagious condition?
2) What do I treat with after I do my 50% water change? Anti-Biotics Salt Temp Spike?
Thanks for the help in advance.
