Sux when this happens

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Tank's off to the maker's I was only charged about 10 USD for the repair and conversion to 100g. They are taking responsibility for their which is super cool. The only thing bothering me if 1/4" glass can hold 100g of water
Sorry to hear about your incident. I am paranoid about these stuffs so I only keep one tanks in the house. The rest of the tanks stay in the garage.
100g should be at least 3/8 for acrylic tanks. I would assume that principle apply to glass as well. If I were you I would ask them to make it 3/8" all around. 1/2" if you are super paranoid.

damn 1" will be a back breaker. You better be strong like Hulk or have a friend to help you. My fore arms felt like they were going to snap when I lifted a 4x2x2 120 1/2" glass all around.

MarcN. MarcN. What are the dimensions on this tank? Did I see correctly you are going 1"? Is this just regular plate glass? If so you may not like the effect the thick glass can create. You may see a noticeable green tinge to everything. This is where a low iron glass would do better, at least for your front panel.

My tank is 300g (96x30x24) all glass, with bottom panel being 3/4" and all sides at 5/8" and it weighed a lot. Took eight people to move it into my house! This tank out of 1" will be a monster!

i would go acrylic for any tank over 150g. I am too old to lift big glass tanks.

beside the scratching. Why do u hate acrylic?
Nailed it with scratching. It was a constant polishing battle going on. Even with the most gentle of cleanings with 'acrylic' scrubbers and soft microfiber it always looked bad. I spent more time on it than my big tank.
