Thanks Sue. I lost about a dozen between the parents fighting and the moving...the rest are doing OK and eating well.

Glad to see that the majority of them made it ok. Don't forget to take more pics. Always fascinating to see how they change as they grow. :)

Congrats! They look great, goodluck!

Thanks guys. I'm traveling and babes are temporarily living with Ken now. Just don't think they'd survive my wife for three weeks ;) Plus, they are enjoying live baby brine shrimp at Ken's. He did some "selection'....something I couldn't do myself, but I suppose it's necessary.

I left a third adult in the tank. It was chaotic in the beginning - the male pushed both the female and the newcomer around. It quickly settled down thought - the pair went back to being a loving couple and are displaying...cleaning the old spawning site...dropping their tubes halfway down...so some actions expected soon. Told my wife to take out the extra adult as soon as the pair lay eggs.

So I guess the lesson is that the fry should be left with parents for 3-4 weeks (exactly what Ed suggested!). After that the parents would want to breed again. I assume in a tank large enough it might work out better. In a 55g though, the fry should be taken out soon after three weeks.

A couple of pictures from before I/they left:

Hi Peter... I'm sure they will enjoy their "camp" time at kens and youall will enjoy your break. It would be nice if everyone could let their "kids" have a "sleep over" at Kens for awhile:ROFL::ROFL:.. Live baby brine shrimp... wow.... They may never want to come home:ROFL:.. Seriously you are doing great with them... More pics when you and they return home please.. By then we should also be back and might just be ready for our new additions... Sue:D
