Some of you may have seen the roughed up Blue Eye Pleco that was recently in the market place... HE was in a bad place from some con-specific aggression, and the owner had nowhere else to put him (always have a plan for your fish). So I happened to know the guy and reached out... we came to an amicable agreement and he brought him to me last night. I wanted to start a thread on him as I am going to try to rehab him and let you guys follow along.. wish me luck!

here are the pics that were in the for sale thread...as you can see his eyes were very and some broken fins..

By the time he got to me... he was in worse shape. Bite marks all along his back flesh exposed half a dorsal fin (these things can be real rough on each other) half a tail....etc. so the first thing i did while acclimating him to a very established tank with mild tank-mates, was coat his wounds in bio bandage. If you are not familiar it is a topical treatment from hikari and since it is a gel it bonds to the wound to continue treating specific spots. You can see this in the picture.. it is the blue spots on him. The Good thing was his eyes popped back out as soon as he was in my tank!!!

My goodness the poor thing was shredded!
I have used Bio Bandage to treat wounds on some of my fish in the past.

Ouch! Good Luck! I did see him the other day and noticed his eyes right off the bat. Can't believe the owner would let a fish like that get beat up without a spare tank to put him in.

Actually, the eyes are looking better even though the wounds and fins are much worse. You have given him a chance.

While I don't know the circumstances and maybe there are extenuating ones here, I am not quite sure how an individual lets this get this far with a specimen like this - for heavens sake put it in the sump or go out and buy even a 10 dollar hospital tank.

Anyway, I hope you are successful.
