Switching to sand

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i just dont like sand some sticks to the rays disc makeing them look dusty all the time

its harder to clean than gravel

rays kick it up all the time and it may fill up your filters

the gravel you are using is very big you can get a much smaller type of gravel

I found that it did initially stick on his disc for a while, but it seems that it's not bad now, and i think over time the slime coating over the sand will prevent this :)

The type of sand I have, doesnt seem to sit in the water when stirred. It drops right down, but to combat the potential of sand in the filter, I raised my intake.

I was thinking of a much smaller gravel, but decided on sand for the reason of preference :)

Wow. The sand looks MUCH better. I'm thinking about switching over, now....

it looks good.... but its not my cup of tea...

it looks alot better than the large gravel you had before

you are going to need a bigger tank soon

Thanks! I do warn you though benz, the sand is a pain in the... to clean!

Yeah...I was so used to the gravel vac. And then when I got sand for the first time, I was trying to figure out if there was a similar way like using the gravel vac. It's definitely easier to dig in and not worry about sucking up the gravel and wilth sand you can't really do that. Just got to be patient when you siphon just the top.

I like the look of the sand! Your tank looks really good!
